The Dr. David E. Epstein z"l Memorial Lecture
Dr. David Epstein was one of the Kollel’s founders and served as President of its Board of Directors from 2002–2004. His leadership was instrumental in nurturing the Kollel from a fledgling organization into the community bastion of Torah learning that it is today. Dr. Epstein was a consummate physician, a model builder of Torah and community, and above all, a loving husband, father and son. In recognition of his integral role in the Kollel's history, the Annual Lecture is named in his memory. We are confident that it will provide an additional source of merit for his neshama for many years to come. |
Horav Dovid Elias studied in the Talmudical Yeshiva of Philadelphia, followed by Mir Yerushalayim and Beth Medrash Govoha, where he received semicha from Rav Shneur Kotler. Rabbi Elias was handpicked to direct a new kollel in Montreal, where he has been at the helm for thirty-seven years. Both within Kollel Keser Torah and the community at large, his scholarship, wisdom and guidance are called upon by many. Rabbi Elias is also a noted lecturer and contributor for the Holocaust memorial program Zichor Yemos Olam.
Rebbetzin Chaya Elias attended Bruriah High School and Medrasha Ohr Yerushalayim. As a respected educator with over forty years experience, a mother and grandmother, Rebbetzin Elias masterfully combines wisdom and heart to reach the thousands who consider themselves students. She is currently a High School Judaic Studies teacher in Hebrew Academy of Cote St Luc. Rebbetzin Elias has also served as a summer Learning Director for over two decades in Camps Raninu, Dina and Bnos Maarava.
We are pleased to announce that we have again expanded the program with two additional presenters:
Rabbi Yonasan Sasportas has been part of Beth Medrash Govoha for over 21 years where he learns and teaches as a Rosh Chaburah. He is active at the Bais Hora’ah of Lakewood as editor of its Halachic Newsletter and popular Maggid Shiur of a weekly shiur in Avodas Hashem.
Mrs. Chaya Rivky Leiser has spent over two decades in yeshivos and Bais Yaakov schools and camps, teaching and programming for young boys and for girls of all ages. Her dynamic style and lively content will engage and inspire our children here in Philadelphia as well!
